Great Basin Beekeepers of Nevada is an organization made up of citizens who are interested in the well being of the honey bee with a special interest in the Great Basin geographic area of Nevada and California. Members include seasoned and novice beekeepers. Some choose to host a hive to benefit from improved pollination and share in the honey harvest. All that is required is an interest in improving the environment to provide healthy surroundings for honey bees and other pollinators. Meeting topics focus on seasonal management of honey bees with time allotted to share and solve problems. Plant identification, pollen and nectar sources and gardening for honey bees are discussed to track seasonal forage variation. Members reach out to the community to educated and inform the public. Members receive electronic copies monthly minutes and bylaws. It is not necessary to be a practicing beekeeper or to have a personal apiary to be a member of GBBN.
Youth and adults are welcome to attend regular monthly meetings held on the First Saturday of each month (excluding December), at 10:00 am at Adams Hub for Innovation, 111 Proctor St., Suite 177, Carson City, NV.
